Privacy Policy

This policy explains what information we collect when you use Rift & Reef, why, and what your choices are. We’ve written it in plain language.

Who we are

Rift & Reef is operated by East Africa Trails (“we”, “us”). You can reach us at hello@riftandreef.com.

What we collect

Trip enquiry form. When you send an enquiry, we collect the details you type: your name, email address, the trip you’re interested in, travel dates, group size, budget, where you’re travelling from and any message. The form also records which page you sent it from and, if present, the campaign details in the link you clicked (UTM parameters), so we know which pages are useful.

Newsletter form. If you subscribe, we collect your email address and, optionally, your interests.

Website analytics. We use Plausible Analytics, a privacy-focused service that doesn’t use cookies and doesn’t collect personal data. It records anonymous statistics such as page views, referrers, country and device type.

Server logs. Our hosting provider may keep standard server logs, including IP addresses, for security and troubleshooting.

We don’t ask for passport details, payment card numbers or health information through the website.

How we use it

• To reply to your enquiry and to plan and price your trip.
• To send the newsletter, if you’ve subscribed, and to remove you when you unsubscribe.
• To understand which pages and offers are useful, and to improve the site.
• To keep the site secure.

Legal bases

If you’re in the UK or European Economic Area, we rely on your consent (newsletter), our legitimate interest in replying to enquiries and improving the site, and, where relevant, taking steps at your request before entering a contract.

Who we share it with

We share information only where it’s needed to provide the service:

• Our hosting and form provider processes form submissions and site traffic on our behalf.
• Our operating partner, East Africa Trails, receives your enquiry so it can plan and quote your trip.
• Email and analytics providers process data under their own privacy policies.

We don’t sell your data. We may disclose information if the law requires it.

Affiliate links

When you click an affiliate link, the partner’s site may set its own cookies and collect data under its own policy. We don’t control that. See our affiliate disclosure.

International transfers

Our providers may process data outside your country, including in the United States. Where this applies, we rely on appropriate safeguards.

How long we keep it

We keep enquiry details for as long as needed to respond and, if you book, to run your trip and meet legal obligations. Newsletter data is kept until you unsubscribe. You can ask us to delete your data at any time.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to see the personal data we hold about you, correct it, delete it, object to certain uses, withdraw consent and complain to your local data protection authority. Email hello@riftandreef.com and we’ll respond within a reasonable time.

Children

This site isn’t aimed at children under 16, and we don’t knowingly collect their data.

Changes

If we change this policy, we’ll update the date at the bottom of this page.
