About the site

Rift & Reef is a travel information site operated by East Africa Trails. By using it, you agree to these terms.

Information, not advice

The guides on this site are general information. We work to keep them accurate and current, but park fees, permit prices, visa rules, health requirements and schedules change, and we can’t guarantee that everything is up to date. Always confirm anything that affects your entry to a country, your health or your money with the official source before you travel. Our guides are not medical, legal or financial advice.

Enquiries are not bookings

Sending a trip enquiry through the site doesn’t create a booking. A booking exists only when you and our operating partner have agreed a written quote and you’ve paid the deposit described in it. Booking conditions, payments, cancellations and refunds are set out in that quote and in the operator’s booking terms, which we’ll send before you pay.

Third-party links and services

The site contains links to third-party websites, including affiliate partners. We don’t control those sites and aren’t responsible for their content, prices or service. Any purchase you make from a third party is a contract between you and that company.

Permits and park rules

Permits for gorilla trekking and other activities are issued by the relevant national authorities and are subject to their rules and cancellation policies. Read them carefully before you pay.

Travel risks

Travel to East Africa involves risks, including health, wildlife, road and political risks. Check your government’s travel advice and take out appropriate insurance, including medical evacuation cover. You’re responsible for your own decisions and for meeting entry requirements.

Intellectual property

The text, design and code of this site belong to us or our licensors. Photographs are credited on our image credits page and are used under their respective licences. You may quote short extracts with a link back to the source. Please don’t copy whole pages.

Limits on our liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, we aren’t liable for losses arising from your use of the site or reliance on its content. Nothing in these terms limits liability that can’t be limited by law, including for death or personal injury caused by negligence or for fraud.
